What Book do You Want to Read?

The children's magazine, Stone Soup, has published book reviews written by students. Read at least 3 book reviews, post which book you might want to read, and answer one of the following questions. What sparked your interest in this book? What connections could you make to other books you have read, text to text connection, or text to self, or text to society? What does the writer think the author did well?

You could even write a book review and submit it to Stone Soup. We will discuss this in class. Below you will find a link to the Stone Soup website.

Listen to a Podcast by a Maine Author

How would you like to listen to an excerpt of a book to see if you want to read it? The Maine Humanities Council has a festival every year where authors, librarians, and other interested people come together to listen to authors and discuss literature. It is an incredible site with many opportunities to listen to authors or librarians who try to hook you into reading a book. Give it a shot. You may just get reeled in! By the way, did you know the story, "Rules" was written by a Maine author, Cynthia Lord? Listen to the podcast to see if you can make a text to self connection!
